DHT stands for Dihydrotestosterone, which is the most potent hormone within androgens (male sex hormone). It is produced by Testosterone through an enzyme called 5-Alpha Reductase. DHT is an essential hormone during male sexual development and throughout puberty. It is formed primarily in peripheral tissues (skin, gut, lung tissues) of the body, where it exerts its effects. During a formation of embryo DHT plays a role of differentiating the organs from female to male.
